The first baptisms outside of North America were performed here in the River Ribble. George D. Watts and Charles Miller raced to see who would have the honor. Watts won.
This is the Chatburn Baptismal Site that was just dicovered and verified in 2008. It served for the many baptisms that took place in and around Clitheroe, Chatburn and Downham.
