For Preparation Day we went with Elder and Sis. Hales, the Area Medical Advisor and wife, to Samlebury Hall about 30 minutes away. It was build in the middle 1400's and has been rescued and preserved. Today you can take tours through it, rent it for a wedding or browse through some great antiques that are scattered throughout the house for sale.
The Southworth family who originally owned it were Catholics and suffured greatly when Catholicism was
outlawed under Henry VIII. There are three 3 priest holes for the clergy to escape from the house when necessary.

This is by the South Wing. We loved the garden with the fountain in the middle. We will go back in the summer when things are in bloom. However, the daffodils are now out all over.
