Trip Snipets

Here are a few interesting, but random bits from our Trip.   This is a mosaic tile floor from a Roman Villa close to the Cotswalds.  It included baths and was apparently a very luxurious home before the Romans left around 200 AD.  I always find it a little startling to run across Roman things here.
This is looking over one of the Church's Farms in the midlands.  Presently they own 12,000acres.
The white spots are a swan couple.  She had just layed eggs and was getting ready to settle in.  Her partner stayed on our side to protect her.

This is one of the typical country churches.  Most are Anglican as the Catholics were rooted out after Henry VIII. The attached graveyards are always interesting.  Bill Byson's  book "At Home" points out that they just keep adding graves on top over the years and these small graveyards hold thousands.
